Basketball Team Advances to Regional Finals
The Everest Crest Eagles have done it again! Our varsity basketball team defeated the defending champions 78-65 in a thrilling semifinal match. Coach Williams praised the team's dedication and teamwork, highlighting the exceptional performance of team captain Michael Brown, who scored 28 points. The regional finals will be held next Saturday at 3 PM in the Central Sports Arena.
The semifinal game was a showcase of our team's growth throughout the season. Despite trailing by 8 points at halftime, the Eagles mounted an impressive comeback in the third quarter, outscoring their opponents 26-12. The defensive effort in the second half was particularly noteworthy, with the team forcing 14 turnovers.
In addition to Michael Brown's outstanding performance, sophomore guard David Chen contributed 15 points and 7 assists, while senior center James Wilson dominated the boards with 12 rebounds.
"I couldn't be prouder of these young men," said Coach Williams after the game. "They've worked incredibly hard all season, and it's wonderful to see that work paying off. But we're not done yet - we've got one more game to win."
The regional finals will pit our Eagles against the Northern Heights Wolves, who have had an equally impressive season. Buses will be available to transport students and parents to the game. Sign-up sheets for bus transportation are available in the main office.
Let's all come out to support our team as they compete for the regional championship!
